Quick Review:Although this again falls into the category of films that I don't normally watch, I found it interesting. Although it is not a film that I love. Mostly because I don't like over dramatic plots or tragic endings.Leslie's acting was superb of course. The same could be said for the rest of the cast as well. This film...had many things it wanted to convey but what left the biggest impression on me was how it showed the ugliness of human hearts around the Chinese Cultural Revolution period where people really did turn on their family members and such to save themselves. To what extent I wouldn't know since I was born well after the fact (=P), but it is still sad thinking about it nonetheless. But yeah, since I hate themes such as betrayal and/or unfulfilled love (even if it was homo), this was not my type of film, but I would recommend seeing it if you could stand gruesome imagery and...what I mentioned above with betrayal and tragedy. |
