Title: キイナ -不可能犯罪捜査官ー
English Title: Kiina - Impossible Crime Investigator
Genre(s): Detective, Crime, Mystery
Year(s): 2009
Episodes: 11
Rating: 8.5/10

Synopsis:

It is, as the title/tagline suggests, a crime investigation drama. Kiina, the name of the drama is also the name of the main character. She basically has photographic memory and because of her strangeness, she herself belongs to a separated "unit" dealing with strange, seemingly impossible, cases in her police department.

The drama kicked off when a rookie joined and was forced into her "special unit" to deal with the strange cases when all he wanted to do was be in the regular unit out catching baddies.

Main Cast:

  • Kanno Miho (菅野美穂) - as Haruse Kiina
  • Hiraoka Yuta (平岡祐太) - as Yamazaki Takeru
  • Tsukaji Muga (塚地武雅) - as Kudo Shinichiro
  • Koike Eiko (小池栄子) - as Endo Sakura

Quick Review:

It is sorta like...Female Galileo minus the physics stuff plus photographic memory. It is quite entertaining. Not exactly the best detective story but it's good nonetheless. I was quite looking forward to new eps every week.

Not exactly the best "detective" drama I guess, but Kiina is an adorable character and the culprits aren't too overly obvious. So, it is quite entertaining indeed.

I kinda wish Kiina wasn't so hang up on her not-so-cool ex-boyfriend and get together with the rookie or something, but It was quite obvious that wasn't going to happen.

Plot wise, each episode is one case, and it always is some case that seems like an "impossible crime" (this the "impossible crime investigator" part of the title). Each episode's title is basically why that particular crime seems impossible. For example, there were episodes titled: "The Heart that Remembers," "The Man who Came Back to Life," etc. Things that seem supernatural that Kiina with her awesome memory had to solve.
It is really light-hearted fun, which I recommend. But if you are looking for some serious detective-work, mystery solving drama, this is not it.

(PS. This is totally unrelated to the review of this drama but, I wonder why she has straight hair in the photos for this drama when she never once sported straight hair IN the drama itself? o.0 She looked so different in-drama. Prettier IMO.)
